This User Guide is for the Cruise Control w/ Wiper Arm Control

Installation instructions found here

Functions
  • Cruise Control - This is the main function of the cruise control. It is used to control the speed the vehicle cruises at for the sake of comfort, convenience, and decreased fuel consumption. Once set, the vehicle will attempt to continue moving at that speed by applying more or less fuel as necessary.
  • MaxSpeed - More popular in Europe, this feature allows you to set a speed which can not be exceeded through powered acceleration. This is handy for those of you with a lead foot.
  • Theft Protection - Through a series of button pushes on the controller, your accelerator pedal is completely disabled preventing a would-be thief from taking off with your car even if he has the key.
Features
  • The unit is programmable allowing for more flexibility to suit your needs
  • All normal cruise control safety features are included. For example, it will disengage when you press the brake pedal.
  • This wiper arm version looks completely stock when installed and should increase your car's resale value significantly.
Limitations
  • The cruise control will never apply braking for you. If your car accelerates beyond your cruise/MaxSpeed setting because of going downhill you will have to slow the car manually.
  • The unit will not shift gears for you (although SoftTouch will if installed and active). So you may need to downshift up a steep hill to maintain your speed.
  • The cruise is not an AutoPilot! You must still be aware of the road and your surroundings and drive your car with the same attention you normally would. It should be obvious, but you should NEVER use the cruise control when in traffic!

Setup
Before Using the cruise control, it needs to be configured for your preferences. Setup mode can only be engaged when the car is stationary and the engine is not running. When you first insert your key and turn it to position "1", you have a short opportunity to enter into one of the programming modes. Which mode you enter depends on the button you push as follows:
  • Cancel/Mode button: Press and hold this button for approximately 10 seconds until the LED shines red or green and then let go. Pressing and releasing the Cancel/Mode button again will toggle between the red and green lights.
    • Green: This is normal for Canadian standards. The cruise will not disengage when you use the accelerator pedal. That is, when you have the cruise set and you accelerate beyond the set speed and then let go of the accelerator pedal, the cruise will resume the previously set speed.
    • Red: With this setting, when you use the accelerator pedal the cruise control (when activated) will be switched off completely.
    • Once the desired setting is selected, remove the key and wait until the LED goes out before continuing.
  • Continue/Plus switch: Rotate up and hold this switch for approximately 10 seconds until the LED flashes green and then let go. Note the sequence of flashes (1 flash then pause, or 2 flashes then pause, or 3 flashes then pause). Rotating up and releasing the Continue/Plus switch again will cycle through the three settings.
    • One green flash: The cruise is set for a gas powered fortwo.
    • Two green flashes: The cruise is set for a diesel powered fortwo.
    • Three green flashes: The cruise is set for a smart roadster.
    • Once the desired setting is selected, remove the key and wait until the LED goes out before continuing.
Be sure to choose the correct version (don't think that setting it to Roadster will make your fortwo go faster!).
  • Set/Minus switch (short):Rotate down and hold this switch for approximately 10 seconds until the LED shines red or green and then let go. Rotating up and releasing the Set/Minus switch again will toggle between the red and green lights.
    • Green:This is the normal setting. The MaxSpeed feature (when activated) will stay on after using the brake.
    • Red:The MaxSpeed feature (when activated) will be switched off upon using the brake.
    • Once the desired setting is selected, remove the key and wait until the LED goes out before continuing.
  • Set/Minus switch (long): Rotate down and hold this switch for approximately 20 seconds until the LED shines red and then let go. Note that after 10 seconds it will flash green as mentioned above - KEEP holding it until it shines red to enter this mode! This mode is used to set/change the TheftProtection code.
    • With the LED shining red Enter the current 4-button code sequence (the factory setting is PLUS, PLUS, PLUS, PLUS or MINUS, MINUS, MINUS, MINUS depending on the software version). Once correctly entered, it moves to the next step.
    • With the LED now shining yellow Enter your new 4-button code sequence. It can be any 4-button sequence using the Plus, Minus, and Mode buttons. Once entered, it moves to the next step.
    • With the LED now shining green Re-Enter your new 4-button code sequence.
    • If everything was entered correctly, the programming mode will automatically exit. Otherwise, you will start over at the beginning of this programming mode.

Operation
  • While Stopped:
    • TheftProtection: With the key is in the ignition (or even a few seconds after the key has been removed), you can enter your 4-button sequence (see Setup section above) to engage or disengage the TheftProtection feature. The LED will shine red when the TheftProtection is engaged and will remain that way until it is disengaged with the proper code. After entering an incorrect code, 5 seconds must pass before another sequence is tried. Be CERTAIN you remember your code! There are 81 different combinations to try Smile
  • While Moving (over 25 kph) with the Cruise Control and MaxSpeed OFF
    • Press Mode/Cancel button to turn the cruise control on. The LED will briefly flash orange and then will shine green to indicate the speed has been set and the cruise is active. You can now remove your foot from the accelerator pedal and your speed will be maintained (within the limits of the cruise control's ability).
    • Press Set/Minus button to turn the MaxSpeed function on, preventing you from going faster than the current speed. The LED will shine red to indicate the speed has been set and MaxSpeed is active
    • Press Continue/Plus button to turn the last-used mode (either cruise control or MaxSpeed) on and resume the last speed that was set (memory is cleared when the car is turned off). The LED will either shine green (cruise control) or red (MaxSpeed) to indicate the speed has been recalled and the function is active.
  • While Moving (over 25 kph) with the Cruise Control ON
    • Press Mode/Cancel button to turn the cruise control off. The LED will turn off.
    • Press Continue/Plus button to increase the set cruising speed by 1kph (press several times or hold for greater increase). The LED will flash with each press.
    • Press Set/Minus button to decrease the set cruising speed by 1kph (press several times or hold for greater decrease). The LED will flash with each press.
    • Pressing the brake pedal, shifting to N or R, or falling below 25kph (for example a steep hill) will turn the cruise control off.
  • While Moving (over 25 kph) with the MaxSpeed ON
    • Press Mode/Cancel button to turn the MaxSpeed off.
    • Press Continue/Plus button to increase maximum allowed speed by 1kph (press several times or hold for greater increase).
    • Press Set/Minus button to decrease maximum allowed speed by 1kph (press several times or hold for greater decrease).
    • The LED will flash red when you reach your set speed limit.
    • Pressing the brake pedal (optional can be programmed to ignore brake), shifting to N or R, or falling below 25kph (for example a steep hill) will turn MaxSpeed off.
